72esima edizione dell¹Interstate Picnic Pratolano

Puntualmente anche nel 2006 si è tenuto presso il Paderewsky Park di Vaughan, Ontario (cittadina satellitare della Metro-Toronto) il consueto annuale Interstate Picnic Pratolano, un raduno dei pratolani residenti nel Continente nord-americano.      Una giornata dove il tempo ha cooperato con una temperatura perfetta e sole a volontà. I vecchi alberi di pini, di querce e salici piangenti hanno offerto ai partecipanti la necessaria ombra e freschezza che ha spronato lo spirito cordiale degli organizzatori torontini, e l¹allegria generale degli oltre 600 partecipanti che erano venuti dalle città di Hartford, Rochester, Buffalo, Ottawa, Brantford, Hamilton, London,  ecc.

 All¹arrivo al parco ai partecipanti, gli organizzatori del Club Pratolano di Toronto, capeggiati dal presidente John Di Nino, gli è stato offerto caffè e una vastissima varietà di dolci paesani.

 Dopo servito lo squisito lunch, ha iniziato sullo stage l¹intrattenimento con un concerto della ³mini-band² di Introdacqua, e il bravo tenore James Ciantar ha cantato brani di famose opere.    Nel pomeriggio si arrivava al momento dei discorsi e la reciproca consegna delle targhe ricordo, con interventi da parte dei delegati delle varie comunità. Dopo aver ricevuto la targa ricordo il delegato della Comunità Pratolana di London, ha dato l¹annuncio ai presenti che la 72esima edizione delll¹Interstate Picnic Pratolano avrà luogo nella città canadese di London.       Seguiva al microfono l¹intervento della signora Ivana Fracasso, presidente della Federazione Abruzzese di Toronto e conduttrice del programma radiofonico L' Eco d' Abruzzo, che esprimeva il suo saluto personale e quello della Federazione.

Come sempre non sono mancati gli abbracci, i brindisi e i vari gruppetti che cantavano a squarciagola "Nu semme pratulane i tant'abbast e..... Vola, vola....  Uva bianch i uva nere.... ecc."   Dopo servita la cena, i più arzilli ballavano al suono di musica DJ, forse per alleggerirsi dopo ³ch s¹aviven abbuttate de dolce i de presutt, tutt mbuss ch nu bicchioire de vine bbeune.  Agli organizzatori va il nostro plauso, per averci dato a tutti una giornata indimenticabile è l'opportunità di rincontrarsi e ai bambini e giovani l'occasione di conoscersi e giocare assieme.    Grazie

72nd edition of the Interstate Picnic Pratolano

 Punctual as usual, the habitual gathering of Pratolani residing throughout North America, this year took place at the Paderewsky Park in Vaughan, Ontario (a suburb of the metropolitan city of Toronto). On this weather perfect summer day filled with sunshine, the mature pines, oaks an weeping willow trees, provided the necessary shade and fresh air to raise the spirit of the Toronto organizers and the joy of over of the 600 participants, arriving from Hartford, Rochester, Buffalo, Ottawa, Brantford, Hamilton, London etc.

On arrival to the park, the participants were offered coffee, tea and a variety of home made sweets by the organizers of the Pratolano  Club of Toronto , led by their president John Di Nino.

After  the exquisite lunch was served by the organizing committee, the  Introdacqua Mini Concert Band proceeded on stage to begin the entartainment, they followed by the fine tenor James Ciantar, performing  famous opera songs.

It is later in the afternoon, and the moment of speeches from the delegates of the various attending communities and reciprocal exchange friendship plaques. After receiving his friendship plaque the delegate from the Pratolana community of London, announced to all present that the 72nd Pratolano Interstate Picnic would be hosted by the Canadian city of London, Ontario. Next  madam Ivana Fracasso, president of the Abbruzzese Federation of Toronto, and host of the radio program "L'Eco d'Abruzzo", expressed her personal wellwishes as well as those from the Federation.

As usual one could see various groups greeting and embracing one another, sharing a glass of wine in a toast, other groups could be heard singing out loud the traditional folk songs: "Nu semme pratulane i tant'abbast e..... Vola, vola....  Uva bianch i uva nere.... ecc."

After the dinner was served, dance enthusiasts strutted to the  DJ's music. some perhaps to digest after indulging  on the home made sweets and prosiutto moistened with a glass of home made wine.

Congratulations to the Organizing Committee, for providing all  with a memorable day  and  the opportunity to  meet again to reminisce and spend some time with each other, as well as to provide the younger generation an opportunity to get to know one another and play together.  Thank-You
