Il 72° Interstate Picnic Pratolano organizzato lo scorso
1° Luglio, dalla Comunità Pratolana di London, Canada ha riscosso uno
straordinario successo che è andato oltre le più rosee previsoni
della vigilia.
Una giornata gradevole, quasi perfetta, che è stata salutata con
gioia da tutti i partecipanti arrivati da Hartford, Rochester,
Buffalo, Montreal, Ottawa, Oshawa, Toronto, Hamilton, Brantford,
Cleveland e altre città nord-americane.
A far da cornice alla 72esima edizione dell'annuale riunione dei
pratolani del Nord-America è stato il confortevole è spazioso parco
(in Nilestown) nelle vicinanze della città di London, un luogo ricco
di alberi secolari dove nella loro ombra sono stati sistemati dai
bravi organizzatori una moltitudine di tavoli e sedie, dove gli
ospiti hanno potuto comodamente imbandire i loro tavoli con ogni ben
di Dio.
Per i pratolani partecipare all'annuale Interstate Picnic risveglia
loro un sentimento nostalgico, come un cordone ombelicale che li
tiene uniti al paese d'origine anche se vivono cosi lontano, ed è
per loro un'occasione per trascorrere una giornata al di fuori dei
consueti schemi quotidiani, ed è più di tutto ritrovarsi almeno una
volta l'anno per scambiarsi quattro chiacchiere, cantare, ballare e
brindare insieme
"ngh nu becchioire de voine bbeune, i farese na
magnete de presutt, de savicicc, de casce saproite repurtate da
Pratele, biolle è a magnè tutt¹aunoite ngh na bella stozze de pane
fatt n'case, ma se veroive a tutte quente ji rirevene ji¹uocchie,
n¹poch parole, eh state na meravijje, nen ce mancheve proprie nionte,
ci stiven perfine i lupoine".
"I fatti da menzionare della giornata":
1) Tra gli oltre 450 partecipanti si è potuto notare un fatto
positivo, la numerosa presenza di giovani e bambini di terza e
quarta generazione, coloro che saranno i futuri leaders delle nostre
comunità
2) La presenza del senatore canadese Consiglio Di Nino (originario
di Pratola), e del noto imprenditore turistico torontino Gino
Ventresca (originario di Torre dei Nolfi).
3) L'eccelente menù servito ai partecipanti, preparato dai bravi
cuochi del Centro Italiano ³Marconi Club².
4) Chiusura con fuochi protecnici (forse mai avuto nelle passate
edizioni).
Merita una menzione speciale l'esibizione canora di
"Saveria"
l¹unica MINI-POP KID residente nella Provincia dell¹Ontario, che
all¹età di solo 10 anni, la piccola cantate ha già registrato dei
CDs che sono andati a ruba nei maggiori supermercati commerciali
canadesi (Wall Mart and HMV records).
Per la cronaca riportiamo una dichiarazione di Remo Di Cesare,
manager della giovane cantante: «I think there could be a very
nice story about this young Italian girl who looks like she is going
to be a star. And, to think that she started her career at the
Pratolani picnic in London. No other city will ever be able to top
that».
All'intera Comunità Pratolana di London, Canada, capeggiata dal
presidente Renato Bonasia, e in particolare alle brave signore che
hanno saputo imbandire per gli ospiti una enorme tavolata di
succolenti dolci nostrani, va il plauso della redazione del Corriere
Peligno/Gente Italica, per aver fatto "na bbona jobba". Il prossimo anno la 73esima edizione dell'Interste Picnic Pratolano
verrà ospitata dalla Pratolana Society di Hartford, US

The 72nd Pratolano Interstate Picnic
organized by the Pratolana community of London, Canada obtained an
extraordinary success more than the anticipated expectations of the
prior evening's reception of out of town guests.
It was a pleasant day, nearly
perfect, greeted with joy by participants arriving from Hartford,
Rochester, Buffalo, Montreal, Ottawa, Oshawa, Toronto, Hamilton,
Brantford, Cleveland and other north American cities. To frame
the 72nd edition of the north American Pratolani annual reunion, was
the spacious and comfortable park in Nilestown nearby the city of
London, a place nestled with well established trees under
whose shadow, the diligent organizers assembled a multitude of
tables and chairs to accommodate the guests and all their
goods.
For the Pratolani to participate at the annual
Interstate Picnic, it awakes in them a nostalgic feeling as if an
umbilical cord that keeps them united to their town of origin even
though they live so far away. For the Pratolani it's an occasion to spend
some time out of their usual daily routine, so as to at least once a
year chat, sing, dance and share a drink together "with a good
glass of wine and indulge in home made prosiutto, sausages, cheese
recently brought back from Pratola, sharing it all together
with a chunk of home made bread. It was wonderful to see the joy in
their eyes, there was absolutely nothing missing, there were even lupini beans"
Highlights of the day:
1) Of the 450 participants or so it
was positive to see a large presence of the young third and fourth
generation, those who would be leaders of our communities.
2) The attendance of Canadian senator
Consiglio di Nino (of Pratolani Origins) and the well known tourism
businessmen from Toronto, Gino Ventresca originally from Torre dei
Nolfi.
3) The excellent menu prepared by the
skilled chefs of Centro Italiano Marconi Club.
4) Closing festivities with fireworks
(perhaps a first time at these events)
Deserving a special acknowledgement
was
singing performance of SAVERIA, the only Mini-Pop Kid representing
the province of Ontario. At her young age of 10 years, Saveria has
quite a number CD's through many of the Canadian superstores such as
Wal-Mart
and HMV records.
We are glad to
report a declaration by Remo Di Cesare, manager of the young singer:
"I
think there could be a very nice story about this young Italian girl
who looks like she is going to be a star. And, to think that she
started her career at the Pratolani picnic in London. No other city
will ever be able to top that"
The
staff of the Corriere Peligno / Gente Italica would like to
acknowledge the
entire community of London, led by president Renato Bonasia and in
particular the good
ladies who were able to set up an enormous table of home made sweets, for a job well done.
The 73rd edition of the
Pratolano Interstate Picnic will be hosted next year by the
Pratolana society of Hartford USA.
