Lo scorso 15 Ottobre la Giornata mondiale dell’alimentazione ha compiuto 30 anni. Quest’anno, svolgendo con gioia uno stage alla Delegazione Europea presso la FAO (Organizzazione delle Nazioni Unite per l'Alimentazione), ho avuto l’occasione di partecipare alla cerimonia. On October 15th World Food Day celebrated its 30th anniversary. This year, while doing an internship  at the European Delegation at the FAO (United Nations Organization for Food), I had the opportunity to attend the ceremony. This year's theme, "Together against hunger", underlines the efforts made against global hunger at an international level: United Nations, states, society, non governmental organizations,

organizzazioni non governative, Banca Mondiale e altri attori, si uniscono per dimezzare entro il 2015 la percentuale di persone che soffrono la fame nel mondo. Alla cerimonia hanno partecipato importanti attori internazionali, come il nostro Sottosegretario di Stato, l'On. Scotti, e alcune personalità del mondo dello spettacolo (Raul Bova, Anggun, Susan Sarandon e Little Tony), con la nomina di “Ambasciatori di buona volontà”. Anche il Vaticano era presente per riportare il messaggio del Papa: “Oggi la tendenza è di limitare la visione dello sviluppo a quello materiale e tecnologico, e sempre meno attenzione viene data al lavoro nei campi e ai prodotti della terra.  E' necessario non solo assicurare che ci sia abbastanza cibo nel mondo, ma anche che ogni essere umano abbia libero accesso ad esso." Ad oggi, più di tre milioni di firme sono state raccolte dalla campagna, lanciata dalla FAO, che chiede ai leader mondiali di fare dell'eliminazione della fame la loro priorità assoluta. E con questa petizione, presentata il 30 Novembre ai governi, la retorica dovrà essere messa in pratica.

World Bank and others, combine to halve by 2015 the proportion of people who suffer from hunger. The ceremony was attended by important international actors, such as our Secretary of State, Hon. Scotti, and some personalities from the entertainment world (Raul Bova, Anggun, Susan Sarandon and Little Tony), with the appointment of "Goodwill Ambassadors". The Vatican was present to bring the Pope's message: "Today the trend is to limit the vision material and technological development and less attention is given to working the fields and produce.  It is necessary not only to ensure that there is enough food in the world, but also that every human being has access to it."  To date, more than three million signatures have been gathered by the campaign launched by FAO, which called on world leaders to end hunger their top priority. So with this petition filed on November 30th, the rhetoric should be put into practice.

I TOFANO SI INCONTRANO IN BRASILE

Su iniziativa di Gino Tofano, tutti i parenti residenti in Brasile si sono riuniti ed hanno accolto la comitiva proveniente da Pratola per festeggiare il “1° Raduno dei Tofano”. Tanta allegria e tanto affetto tra i parenti molti dei quali conosciuti per la prima volta. Dal Brasile è tanta la voglia di venire a Pratola per vedere il paese che ha dato le origini ai genitori. On the initiative of Gino Tofano, all relatives residing in Brazil got together to greet the party arriving from Pratola to celebrate their "1st  Tofano reunion. So much fondness and joy was shared among relatives many of whom met for the first time. There is a great desire from Brazil to return to Pratola to see the town  that gave origin to their parents. VIAGGIO IN SVIZZERA NEGLI ANNI '60

Emigrare per lavoro in Svizzera negli anni addietro non era cosa semplice. Serviva manodopera..ed ecco gli italiani del sud pronti a partire. Ne abbiamo ascoltato uno che ci ha parlato del classico viaggio di ritorno dopo le vacanze di Natale. “Negli anni 56-57 erano ancora tanti a partire da Pratola per Francia, Svizzera e Germania. Dopo 12 ore di treno si arrivava a confine , a Domodossola. Qui, stanchi del viaggio ed assonnati, dovevamo scendere per essere sottoposti a visita medica. Mentre si era in riga ci veniva ritirato il passaporto per il controllo. Tutti a petto nudo , uno alla volta venivamo messi dietro una macchina per i raggi x e per il controllo di cuore e polmoni. Questo avveniva a cadenza annuale. Dopo questa trafila…la coincidenza era persa. Si dovevano aspettare altre 3-4 ore per proseguire il viaggio. I controlli medici erano severissimi e la polizia ci teneva sotto stretto controllo. Superato questo scoglio, era la volta dei doganieri che ci controllavano le valige. Se qualcuno portava una bottiglia in più o un prosciutto…bisognava <sbarazzarsene> altrimenti si doveva tornare indietro . Mia suocera, per farmi piacere, a mia insaputa aveva messo nella valigia una bottiglia di vermut …dovetti liberarmene e…persi la coincidenza…5 ore di attesa per poi arrivare a Berna. Quando ho portato mio figlio piccolo per la prima volta in Svizzera, i doganieri nella galleria del Sempione controllarono accuratamente la culla , svegliando il piccolo, per accertarsi che non portassi cibo imboscato. Il padrone non era cattivo. Però bisognava comportarsi sempre bene con tutti , altrimenti….espulsione. Pensate che nei primi giorni del nostro arrivo, come facevamo a Pratola, lasciammo il sacchetto dell’immondizia fuori la porta pensando che sarebbe passato il netturbino a ritirarlo. Due giorni dopo venimmo convocato dai gendarmi in caserma e redarguiti pesantemente nonché segnati sul loro libro nero. Alla prossima infrazione saremmo stati espulsi. Il sabato era un giorno strano. Al pomeriggio, essendo liberi dal lavoro ci si incontrava con gli altri pratolani nei pressi della stazione di Berna. La polizia subito veniva a chiederci i documenti e faceva sciogliere l’assembramento. Dovemmo separarci”.

To emigrate to Switzerland in past years, was not so easy. Labour was needed and many southern Italians were ready for the task. We have listened to one who spoke to us about the classic return after the Christmas vacation. "During the years 1956 to 1957 there were still many Pratolani leaving for France, Switzerland and Germany. After a 12 hour train ride you would reach the border at Domodossola. Here tired and weary from the trip we had to get off to undergo a medical examination. While waiting in line we had our passport inspected. All in bare chest  were put behind an X-ray machine to check the heart and lungs. This was also part of an annual check-up. As a result of the inspection delay we missed the train connection, and had to wait another 3-4 hours for the next. The medical examinations were very strict and the police kept us under tight control. Having surpassed this task we then had to go through customs to check our bags. If anyone had brought an extra bottle of wine or prosciutto.....needed to get rid of it right away, otherwise they would be turned back. My mother in law  thinking she was doing me a favour, without my knowing she  put a bottle of vermouth in my suitcase so  I had to find a way to get rid of it, as a result I missed the train connection and had to wait another five hours to reach Bern.    When I brought my baby boy in Switzerland for the first time , the custom agent in the Sempione gallery performed a thorough inspection even of  the crib not caring to wake up the baby , so to ensure we were not bringing any illegal foods with us. The owner of the company  was not a bad person, but you had to get along with everyone otherwise he would have you deported.           During the early days of our arrival, we thought as we did in Pratola, we left the garbage bag out side the door thinking the garbage man would come by and pick it up. Two days later we were summoned by the police to the station and we were severely rebuked and marked on their black book. and the next offense we would have been deported. Saturday was a strange day being our day off we met in the afternoon with fellow pratolani near the train station in Bern. As we formed  large group, the police quickly came to ask for our papers and then demanded the group to disperse, as a result we had to to split up in smaller numbers. "

PRESENTATO IL PROGETTO PER UN NUOVO ASILO NIDO

Dovrebbe sorgere nei pressi dell’ufficio postale, vicino alla scuola media, la nuova struttura scolastica per i bambini. A presentare l’iniziativa a Palazzo Colella c’erano il sindaco, molti consiglieri ed i progettisti.  

The proposed structure to house the new day care centre should rise near the post office and middle school locations. To present the project was the Mayor, city councilors and  the building designers.

NUOVA CORALE: GRANDE SUCCESSO NEI CONCERTI

Un mese ricco di appuntamenti è stato quello di dicembre per la Nuova Corale Polifonica diretta dal maestro Vincenzo Polce. Le esibizioni pratolane e negli altri paesi hanno riscosso enorme successo.

The month of December was  booked solid for the New  Polyphonic Choir, directed by maestro Vincenzo Polce. The performances in Pratola and surrounding towns enjoyed enormous success

Si è iniziato col divertente teatro dei burattini che ha regalato tanta gioia ai più piccini, poi i prodotti tipici ed il mercatino dell’usato e quello degli hobby. Domenica 12 dicembre : una bella giornata in piazza con gli amici in attesa del Natale. Tutto grazie a Nuove Frontiere
